Awards & Recognition

We believe in awards and events that everyone can enjoy.  Whether it’s hosting a job shadow day for kids, or partnering with arts organizations to help budding artists create their next masterpiece, we can achieve great things when we work (and play) together.

  • Best Place to Work - Cincy Magazine 2016

"Richards Industries is a perennial MANNY winner, recognized nine times in the program's 10 years. This is the eighth time Richards has received a "Best Place to Work" award. Company officials say the reason is they're continually striving to make the workplace better. It ranges from little things such as helping an employee apply for a car loan or helping their child hone their interview skills, to big things such as never having a layoff, a reduction in hours, or failing to pay annual profit-sharing. Key features of Richards' culture: communication, such as regular meetings with Broxtermann and other executives and a luncheon wall dedicated to company metrics; benefits that are on par with larger companies - Richards' wellness program this year began a 3K walk/run every other week for employees to accumulate reward points; and morale - the company holds events such as an annual recognition dinner, golf outing and company picnic for employees and their families and has company-wide lunches and ice cream at work to show its appreciation.  "We work hard to help all employees reach their dreams, whether they are professional or personal. When we help an employee reach a personal milestone, this continues to build trust and loyalty," says Cheryl Neiheisel, vice president, human resources."

  • Best Place to Work - Cincy Magazine 2015

Richards Industries applies continuous improvement to stay among the best places to work in the Cincinnati region.

“We continually work at creating the best environment for our employees. Each year we just keep getting better,” says Cheryl Neiheisel, vice president for human resources. It is reflected in the fact that this is the eighth time in the past nine years the specialty valve maker has won a MANNY for Best Work Place.

Richards’ human resources department routinely goes above and beyond in helping employees. Last year, when an employee was diagnosed with cancer, the human resources department set up a meal train for the day he received chemotherapy and complied a video of fellow employees with encouraging messages.

Richards offers  a full-range of benefits and has never had a lay-off or a reduction in benefits.

Recognition isn’t a one-way street, and the company encourages employees to thank their co-workers for a job well done  with “RImpressive” or “RInvaluable” cards.

  • Best Place to Work - Cincy Magazine 2014

Richards Industries is The MANNY’s “Best Place to Work” award winner for the sixth time in seven years for its workplace culture.  According to Cincy Magazine, "the reason is simple: the company is constantly working to create the best environment for employees. It ranges from little things like ordering flowers for an employee’s spouse or helping with a child’s resume to big things such as never having a layoff or failing to pay profit sharing and bonuses." The company’s wellness initiatives have helped employees quit smoking, lose weight and improve their health screening scores. The program resulted in a 10 percent reduction in health insurance renewal costs, and the savings were used to hold down employee premiums. The company’s commitment to employee training and continuing education included investing $28,000 to train 10 new hires at Cincinnati State Technical & Community College. In addition, all the workers received their salary while they were in class. The best testimonial comes from an employee who says: “I have worked for a number of companies and they all talk about how important employees are. None of them showed it with the sincerity Richards Industries does.” THe MANNY Awards are committed to recognizing the manufacturing industry’s greatest accomplishments, and in doing so will honor local companies for their innovation and best practices
